MAKE IT YOUR OWN

As always, I'm having a blast with Michelle Wards' latest Crusade (#31) Make it Your Own: Check it out and join us if you can. This is a showing of some of my sketchbooks of recent years. I always decorate the cover of the sketchbook with my own designs, and looking back, it's like a road-map of where I've been on my creative journey. Yesterday, I started the latest one in the bottom right corner.
I painted the silhouette first, slightly cutting off the edges, for added 'drama' then I stamped all over.
inside cover (left) decorated with scrapbook paper.  Right hand side is a pen-sketch with orange-golds to coordinate with left page.

two page spread using my great new "hot topic" stamps designed by Michelle, with my twist to make it my own. Left side is a previously journaled on page, partially covered with paint and tissue paper with some of the old text peeking through. (learned from crusade #30). 'Hand' stamp is my own carving, painted tissue paper was recycled from J. Jill where I just bought khakis (a little $$ but they are kind of flattering) lol!another page using Michelle's stamps: I overlapped them like crazy to add more chaotic (but subtle) texture
close-up of some texture. Thanks Michelle for another great prompt! Happy weekend everyone!

Jane - trying again (every time I come here I have trouble leaving a comment as a typepad user *rrgghh* so sorry if it double posts) Beautiful covers! I love seeing all these juicy pages with such rich layers and colors. The stamp looks so cool in white or bleach or however you did it. It's definitely Your Own. You claimed it girl! Thanks for sharing with the team.

I love finding other folks who make their sketch(orotherkindof)books personalized too. :) My fave is the pen sketch with the orange-golds!! Gorgeous stuff.

Hi Jane! Gorgeous journal covers, but I am especially drawn to your pages you've created... so rich with texture and color! REALLY nice job, I want some of those pages for my own journals... and thanks, btw, for your very kind comments re: the "Black Friday" postcard... I appreciate it! :D

These are beautiful! How did you do the cover with the pears? It looks like they were sketched in charcoal, but charcoal would never hold up for a cover without smearing. I love the look of charcoal but rarely use it because it smears so easily. I'd love to know a more permanent way to get that look.

What a coincidence, Jane! I just finished my new journal last week without having seen yours here, and I used the same scrapbook paper on mine!
