Was a very proper Irish lady. She loved to travel and was an award winning Floral designer
"back in the day". In her later years, she was a quite, graceful woman, a long-time widow who lived in a nice apartment near our house. She was my mother's mother and preferred to be called 'Grandmother' by her ten grandchildren. She had white hair, ice blue eyes that always sparkled and she loved to laugh. She passed on a darker version of her blue sparkled eyes to my mother who passed them on to me, minus the sparkle. But sometimes . . . on a very good day I catch a glimpse of the 'sparkle' in my own reflection and I feel a connection to this elegant lady.
Sketch from a photo of Grandmother as a young lady, with my latest spray paint/stencils added in PhotoShop.

Such a wonderful tribute! It is interesting to wonder where the urge to do art comes from. Is it genetic? An exposure to something that sets off a spark?
Beautiful work. :)
...well my goodness gracious... stupendous... not the perfect word..for such a wonderfully gracious painting, jane. i could stare at this in it's entirety forever..my only wish would be to see it larger or better yet, in person. i love every thing about it, seriously special. wanda
A beautiful sketch Jane...and as for that sparkle...I wonder...do we ever really see the sparkle in our own eyes? That would mean we can see into our own souls. I think others see that sparkle because it is what we pour forth!! Something tells me that you have that particular sparkle!
and also, my grandmother's name was lillian and she had those icy blue eyes as well...alas i did not inherit her's but my father's green. and i betcha that sparkle is there in yours just about always!!!! xo wanda again, heh heh
I don't know about the *sparkle* in your eyes Jane as I've ever laid eyes on you but there is a *sparkle* in your words and art. Beautiful piece.
Isn't it nice to remember? My first name is also Lillian. I have never liked or used it tho.

Beautifully done.
I love the faded sepia feel to the whole piece! The profile is really lovely, and so is the stencil texture. Great work. :)
