New spray booth

I'm participating in Michelle Wards' Crusade #31 "Make it Your Own" and this week, I'm taking it literally. Check out her blog for all the details, it's worth the click. Michelle points out the value of creating your own tools to add a truly personal touch to your work. In the case of spray painting - a 'spray booth' is a must, so here it is: Keep in mind I have a small studio so everything must be tucked away, efficient and not messy looking because I'm clutter phobic, really.
Ta-DA! dh took a day of 'staycation' and I put him to work. Here is my brand new spray booth- and the best part . . . it cost nothing/nada/zip/zero. Part of being 'creative' is using what you have and re-purposing things. This would fall into the category of being 'green' too except for the fumes LOL! but speaking of fumes that was a consideration since spraying outside is not an option. (more on that later) So-my new 'booth' is a box from last years' remodeling of our kitchen (in 20 years, I have never allowed dh to throw away a box so . . . we have alot of boxes) the sides are my re-cycled 'dream map' from 2008 conveniently still useful as I can see it while I'm spraying. The plastic flap folds down to contain the fumes (somewhat) after spraying.
Storage table with drawer, pictured here are a few stencils: some store-bought and a few hand-made. I must admit, I'm proud of my circle and square punchanellas-snow flakes, too. Even if it is 94˚ today. hahah
Also proud of this feature: Nails in the wood so I can hang stencils for easy access  and they are a drying rack for the used stencils, too.
Today's 'harvest'. Tune in again to see the final artwork from these 'raw' beginnings.

Jane - great post! I love my spray booth - and now have two! It's terrific for containing the stray spray and the fumes...and it stops the wind from blowing my stencils off my paper. Great storage on the nails too. Looking forward to the transition from 'raw'. Thanks for sharing Jane - five times!!

You are so clever! You've inspired me to make a spray booth also. Your papers are looking wonderful.

What a great idea.I usually spray outside and Tony sometimes gets a bit alpha-male about the multi coloured lawn.

Hi Jane it's so nice to meet you. Thanks for visiting my blog and the nice comment you left me.

Your art is amazing. I browsed just a bit. A few posts earlier you showed the covers of several sketch books. They are all wonderful - I could see a beautiful monthly or weekly calender contained in those lovely pages!! :)
Your cards are beautiful.

Have you seen Mary Ann Moss's class on stenciling and spray painting? It just began and looks terrific. Her blog is dispatchfromla.typepad.com - check it out.

Blessings,
Mary
