I'm participating in Michelle Ward's Green Pepper Press Street Team Crusade #35. Our prompt for this month is What's Your Sign? Not zodiac but signs that remind and connect us with others. Check it out here and join us if you can!
My Dad loved Eagles. There were many statues and photos of them in his 'study' which was a small, cozy room where he paid bills, read magazines and kept all his law books, etc. I inherited this love of eagles so I didn't have to look far to find them:
Bookend in my office.
Return address labels in my desk drawer.
Sticker on my office door. One of my favorite quotes.

A Ray Harm print given to us by dh's Granny just after we were married. It's large and hangs above the fireplace in our den.
Finally this journal page I did to capture the best sign of all: DH and I went to Providence Canyon in June, it's out in the middle of nowhere and our car was the only one on the road. We drove and drove for about 20 minutes without seeing another car or person or sign of life. As we drove along, something caught my eye and when I looked out the window I saw a huge eagle taking off from a fence post. What a thrill to see an eagle so close. It was so powerful, majestic, awesome. The best part: This happened the week before Father's Day and I have no doubt - it was a "sign" from my Dad.

So many great challenges out here in blogland! Love your eagles and that journal page is wonderful - how great to get such a gift as seeing one close up :)
What a wonderful post. Signs are everywhere.
I love the one your Dad sent to you.
I definitely believe in signs and that was surely a sign from your father. Really nice journal page.
Love this Jane! I really need to participate in this one since I am a firm believer in signs. They happen to me every day concerning my mom....for me, it's a street light going on or off suddenly as well as seeing a hawk. I have so many stories from both signs, and they all bring comfort to me which I know they do for you as well... xoxox
Jane - terrific page, and wonderful story. Definitely a *sign*, but only visible to those who see them :) Loved hearing your connection to the majestic eagle. I've seen several up close (there is a family that perches near our cabin in northern MN). It is a rare and special treat. I will think of you and your father when I see them again.
I'm also a sign girl.... I look for the everywhere!! Love the journal page.... it's fantastic!
Beautiful page. Birds are powerful signs. Especially such a powerful bird as the eagle. Nice story about your meeting with the eagle just before father's day.
This is very cool, I am sure it was a sign. When my Grandmother died, she came to me in a dream and said every time I hear a flag in the breeze it is my sign she is here for me.

What a wonderful and touching post! I love the symbolism of the Eagle in your life. Mine is a crow; which symbolizes a dear family friend who we lost two years ago.
What a beautiful journal page and the post set the stage very perfectly. My dad loves eagles too ~ has as statue or two and misc. items about. I look for the eagles every winter morning on our commute as we drive over the river. So majestic...
great story, jane. and you should mount this collage piece somewhere in your "view", it is very inspirational and VERY cool to peruse. like your style on this one! xo wanda
A really moving set of images and I like your page very much. Lots of depth and warmth. It honors him.
A sign from your Dad? That is so special. Somehow an eagle really fits the image of a man who strongly influences his family.
nice symbolism...i was reading back through past posts and saw that you lost your mom and dad within the past few years. i lost my dad 3 years ago and he, too, loved birds...there are a few things that remind me of him because he liked them and then a few random connections i made the night he passed away that somehow emotionally connect me to him...like hearing a train pass...i must have heard this sound when processing he was really gone and now when i hear any trains i just feel it is our special connection living on...i enjoy your art, advice, personal stories and connections and look forward to more!
Ahh... good one. :) Thanks for sharing... I LOVE the page!
SO COOL!!! Eagles are a sign for a couple of my sisters. The day of Dad's funeral, they saw once circling the sky over the farm where we grew up (and Dad was born.) We lived far from any river and we never saw eagles in the area until very recently.
Your journal page is so beautiful.
Gorgeous page! The story you tell along with the 'eagles' is so heartwarming too... I feel privileged to have shared it. This is such a lovely group of caring, sharing artists. I learn something new every month!
This is a beautiful post, Jane ! A wonderful remembrance of your dad. My dad had been gone fourteen years this March and his sign is the hawk, so I relate a lot to your father's symbol to you. I will be taking up the challenge next week when things are a little quiter here. Nice job, wonderful Crusader !
wow, that's a fabulous journal page to honor your dad. and lots of eagle signs around
